Carrots are a particularly good source of beta carotene, fiber, vitamin K1, potassium, and antioxidants.
Antioxidants are compounds that neutralize unstable molecules called free radicals. When the number of free-radicals in our body gets too high, causing an imbalance to occur, it can lead to cellular/tissue damage otherwise known as oxidative stress. Unfortunately, prolonged oxidative stress has been shown to contribute to the development of chronic disease. However, antioxidants, such as beta carotene, help to reduce and/or prevent oxidative stress in the body.
BETA CAROTENE is an antioxidant that is considered a “provitamin A” which means that your body can convert it into vitamin A (retinol).
Vitamin A is essential for:
➡preserving eyesight
➡supporting a healthy immune system & maintaining your body’s natural defenses
➡supporting bone health
➡promoting healthy growth & reproduction
