What do all 3 of these areas (ankle & calf, hip, thoracic spine) have in common? When these areas get really tight and restricted, there’s something known as patho-biomechanics that occurs. Patho-biomechanics (“Patho-” as in pathology, the study of disease) simply means diseased biomechanics or altered biomechanics. So what we need to do is to correct those biomechanical issues that are causing your lower back pain.

Most commonly, it’s the calf, front part of the hip, and the mid-back. If the calf gets tight, it’s going to pull the pelvis forward. If the front part of the hip gets tight, it will also pull the pelvis forward. If the thoracic spine doesn’t rotate very well, it’s going to cause the pelvis to rock forward. If we get these 3 areas to work synergistically on a daily basis, you’ll reduce your pain very quickly.
